NEWS: John McCrea Returns To Creator Owned Work With Phil Hester
Northern Irish creator/artist John McCrea is returning to the creator owned scene with a new strip called Warpaint that will debut in Tripwire Magazine #55 as a preview before launching in the inaugral issue of Strip Magazine when it ships in October.
Warpaint tells the tale of a homeless teen who gets drawn into a battle between elemental monsters and mankind for the future of the world at stake. Written by top tier writer Phil Hester and art by McCrea, Strip Magazine’s blog describes it as a “fast paced, but thoughtful adventure bridging the worlds of fantasy, American Indian mythology, bleak realism, dystopian science fiction, and super heroic action. It is a tale that will engage readers from the full spectrum of comics fandom and hopefully beyond.”
You might be forgiven for thinking that you haven’t seen Tripwire in a while and you would be correct as the book now represents a return to the shelves for the popular magazine after two years off it.
Strip Magazine is a new book and the first British publication of Bosnian company Print Media. The magazine will also feature a cover and interior story by fellow Irish artist PJ Holden.
