What is Newszoom?
NewsZoom takes some of the day’s news stories and converts it into comics form.
Tuesdays, Thursdays, 12:30s.
Hung on the wall at Belfast’s Arts and Disability Forum. Transmitted out over the interwebs. A physical copy, in your hand. In ten minutes; unless you’ve subscribed in advance to pick up.
Like every other paper, NewsZoom has an agenda. I just don’t know what it is yet, because I’m flying by the seat of my pants. Perhaps a right to the left. Feel free to email suggestions.
NewsZoom comes from a number of places – my desire to harness the work ethic of the 24 hour comics formula, while mitigating the damage. It comes from a fascination with those who work in the newspaper industry – nourished by the comics section in The Sunday Post, work experience at the Bangor Spectator, and the children’s TV show, Press Gang, written by the young Stephen Moffat. It’s also from the idea that comics can do anything, transmit any communication – from bank statements to badminton lessons. Really.
