presents ‘My Hero’ Comic Art Competition 2012
It is considered a great honour to be chosen to carry the Olympic Flame on part of its journey to light the cauldron, which signals the start of the Olympic games. Many inspirational people have been chosen to carry this flame for the 2012 Olympics in London.
Who would you have liked to carry the flame? Who is your hero? You can nominate anyone, from your grandparents to your favourite musician or sportsperson or comic character. But instead of just writing your nomination down we would like you to create an image showing your hero carrying the flame. You can create this image in any way you like… the only limit is your imagination.
Draw your character on an A4 or A3 page. It can be in black and white or colour. All entries must be signed by your teacher. Please provide the following information with each entry:

Age Groups: There will be 1st, 2nd and 3rd place prizes in the following age categories:
a) Key Stage 1
b) Key Stage 2
c) Key Stage 3
d) Key Stage 4
e) 17 and over
Prizes (in each age category):
1st Prize: £100 of Art Materials
2nd Prize: £50 Gift Voucher
3rd Prize: £25 Gift Voucher
Overall Winner: £150 Art Materials. The winning artwork will also be used to create a large promotional banner, which will be on display for the duration of the festival. Winners will be notified on Tuesday 29 May. Competition winners will be invited to attend the prize-giving ceremony at the Verbal Arts Centre on Saturday 2 June at 2pm.
