NEWS: Dark Horse Comics Alabaster: Wolves By Caitlin R. Kiernan
While reading the Dark Horse Free Comic Book Day sampler I came across a surprisingly strong short story called Alabaster: Wolves from writer Caitlin R. Kiernan with art by the amazing Steve Lieber. Some folks may know Kiernan from her time working on the Sandman spin-off The Dreaming from 1996 to 2001 when she was hand-picked by Neil Gaiman to writer the book. Several Vertigo mini series followed this works and then in 2002 she stopped writing comics. What I didn’t know is that she is one Ireland’s most successful writers in prose and comic form and after a ten-year comic hiatus she is back.
Born in Skerries Co. Dublin in 1964, the multi award-winning writer won the International Horror Guild Award for Best First Novel in 1998 for her work on Silk. In the time since her works have varied considerably and have garnered her a devoted audiance and won her multiple awards.
This qualified paleontologist currently lives in the US and one of Ireland’s best writing talents work on Alabaster: Wolves can currently be found on comic shelves now.
