This week’s Noodle: Overpainting
‘This week I wanted to show a technique I’ve shown before on my blog, overpainting. Basically what it’s taking a 3D model or scene that has all the content, but not all of the info or design that shows mood, colour, FX, etc… It’s a really quick way to see what a scene could look like without having to set all those elements up in 3D which takes time not to mention saving time on rendering. This is also a technique that concept artists often now use to get the basic perspective and geometry in a scene. All in all an effective technique.
Thanks to my talented colleague Viv Duignan for the original model! The overpaint itself took me about 3 hours in Photoshop.’
