Fans also have the opportunity to meet actors from the original movies during Lecture theatre talks and signings. Actors confirmed include Tim Rose who appeared in Return of the Jedi as Admiral Ackbar and was the puppeteer behind Sy Snootles & Salacious Crumb. Antony Forrest played the role of Fixer and a Sandtrooper in Star Wars and Jerome Blake who appeared in Phantom Menace, Attack of the Clones & Revenge of the Sith as Rune Haako, Mas Amedda, Oppo Rancisis and Orn Free Taa will also be on hand for signings and talks over the weekend.
Another special guest for this year will be comic artist Will Sliney who has worked on both Star Wars ‘The Phantom Menace 3D’ and Star Wars ‘The Clone Wars’ comics. Will shall be hosting ‘How to Draw Star Wars’ workshops, as well as sketching and signing throughout the two days.
Force Training makes a welcome return with the Emerald Garrison’s highly specialized Jedi, or Sith, instructors taking you through the steps to overcome, or become one, with ‘The Dark Side’. This is an extremely popular event and is bookable on the day for wannabe Padawans. Galactic Attack makes its first appearance in Belfast as our young visitors join the rebels in a battle with the Empire! This bookable on the day event pits good against evil, dark against light in a simulated battle against a crack team of Storm Troopers in the corridors of an “underground bunker”. Please note demand for places on both these activities will be very high, numbers are limited and places will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.
As well as encountering a wealth of costumed characters you can also mingle with some giant, recreated life-size props including the towering Scout Walker (AT-ST) and the immense Clone Wars ‘Republic Fighter Tank’. Over the weekend visitors can climb on board the tank and get their photograph taken whilst they man the guns of this considerable construction.
