NEWS: John McCrea Is Top Irish Creator On Diamond Top 500 List of 2012

This week Diamond Distribution released their list of the top 500 selling comics of last year. as expected the list is Marvel (219) & DC (260) heavy but it is Image Comics The Walking Dead #100 which took the number 1 spot.
From an Irish point of view there were three comics worth noting on the list. At number #356 is Spider-Men #5 which although the book did not have an Irish creator on board, it’s position on the list is due in part to a print run for a variant cover that was exclusive to The Big Bang for the DICE event last September.
John McCrea was the top selling Irish creator in 2012 with the IDW book Mars Attacks #1 making the list at number 417. The book had dozens of variant covers to tie in with a trading card run from yore which helped it with sales.
McCrea outsold the only other Irish creator to make the list with Garth Ennis’ The Shadow #1 from Dynamite Entertainment making the list right behind McCrea on number 418.
