FERGUSON’S 7 QUESTIONS WITH … THE 7TH QUESTION AWARDS 2013

FERGUSON
So I have been doing “7 Questions With…” since June and it has become a big part of my contribution to, and my own little corner of, Irish Comic News. Tommie Kelly posted the first few for me and it was him who named it “Ferguson’s 7 Questions With…”. This has led to me being known for the piece and being referred to as “the 7 Questions guy” at a couple of cons. I’m quite proud of it and am quite proud of the twenty-one pieces that have been posted to date. I want to thank all the contributors who have taken time out of their busy lives to reply and essentially do the heavy lifting. The idea behind the questions was to give creators a chance to plug their stuff and give the readers a chance to peer behind the curtain at the creative process. I think we’ve had some interesting answers that did both of those things.

Then there was question number 7. This was a chance for creators to plug their fellow creators. I thought it would be interesting to see which books creative people were enjoying. Arbitrarily taking every piece of 7 Questions up till now (basically covering November), I have added up the picks and have come up with some award winners for 2013.

7TH QUESTION AWARD FOR AN IRISH BOOK

Winners:

Finn & Fish
final-cover-complete-sm
We have a tie in our first year. First we have Leann Hamilton’s Finn & Fish. A book that, ironically, I discovered thanks to another creator Maura McHugh. I have already reviewed the book here and I loved it. It takes a traditional story and adds an interesting twist.

The Wren

We also have The Wren, created by Jason ConnorsMark Kirwan, Sean Teeling and Phil Roe, which is kind of the opposite. It takes modern superheroes and gives them an Irish twist. ICN has reviewed all the issues up to now. You can read the review of volume one here and volume two here. Another great book worthy of peoples’ attention.

Runner-up: Mr Amperduke

7TH QUESTION AWARD FOR AN IRISH CREATOR

Winner: Leeann Hamiton
ICN-POST9
Leeann was picked for two books. Not only was she picked for Finn & Fish, she got a couple of mentions in more recent editions for Things Happened her new webcomic (a series I plan on reviewing once more episodes are out). You can check out the series on her website and Leeann has some process videos up on the site too. She has answered my 7 Questions which you can find here.

Runners-up: Jason Connors (The Wren, Artos)
