FERGUSON’S 7 QUESTIONS WITH … THE 7TH QUESTION MOST MENTIONED AWARDS 2014
I have kind of let the 7 Questions slide a little lately. Time for some creator bothering. There have been more than enough in 2013/2014 to warrant another award though. This time out the “votes” were an interesting mix of well known faces and smaller indie books. Thanks again to Leeann Hamilton (2013 winner) for coming up with a cool name for the awards.
7TH QUESTION AWARD FOR MOST MENTIONED IRISH BOOK
Winner: HALF PAST DANGER
Half Past Danger got a lot of support from the Irish comic community (deservedly so) and this win certain shows that support again as creators and comics people picked it as their favourite Irish comic. I really enjoyed the series and would recommend it to everyone (particularly the hardcover which has some lovely extras).
Runner-up: STRAY LINES
Quite a different beast to HPD as a number of independent creators collaborate on an anthology. Another book that I enjoyed, Stray Lines featured work from Philip Barrett, Barry Hughes, Gus Hughes, Chris Judge & Andrew Judge, and Paddy Lynch.
7TH QUESTION AWARD FOR MOST MENTIONED CREATOR
Winner: STEPHEN MOONEY
It’s been a pretty good 12 months or so for Stephen Mooney. Not only did we get a delicious hardcover of Half Past Danger, we got to see some DC work in the form of Grayson: Future’s End. Happily, we’ll be getting more of his Grayson and Half Past Danger 2 in the future.
Runner-up: PHILIP BARRETT
Phil was mentioned by name on a number of occasions (for example “anything by Philip Barrett”) as well as being counted in the mentions for Stray Lines. He has a long list of great independent works that can be found here.
