The Wren 13 Begins Season Two At DCC
Jason Browne had already begun to talk a Stan Lee style role with his creations with Mike Lynch and Aaron Fever taking on the writing on Artos and Ciaran Marcantonio on The Stoat but now this has carried over to the core title The Wren.
Paul Carroll comes aboard as writer in what has been dubbed the beginning of “Season Two” with new challenges for Jack (aka “The Wren”). If readers want to catch up on his adventures, you can also pick up volume 2 (reviewed here), now in full colour (coloured by Mon Amancio), at DCC. Volume 1 (reviewed here) has previously been given the full colour treatment by Triona Farrell. The Wren is probably the longest running comic in Ireland right at this stage and is definitely the most consistent. With Jason Browne on art for all of the books (and Phil Roe on lettering), the world has a consistent look and, even with four books on the go, isn’t overly mired in complex continuity. You can easily hop on board with issue 13 but I recommend grabbing volume one and two. Probably the best all ages book around.
