ICN Hall Of Fame Class Of 2020: Pádraig Ó Méalóid

This year’s induction is a first for ICN as we induct someone as a comics historian and writer of non-fiction about comics. We asked another student of comic book history, and Chairman of last year’s World Con, James Bacon to induct him.
“Pádraig Ó Méalóid has been a bookseller and fan at the forefront of comics for four decades. Heavily involved with the ISFA, Octocon and P-Con he helped bring comic professionals to conventions and organised the Dublin Sci-Fi Fest in the 90’s. Focussing on scholarly work, he has pursued interviewing major creators such as Neil Gaiman and Alan Moore repeatedly, being published on sites such as Comics Beat to fanzines such as Journey Planet and has worked to highlight creatives in the industry with such articles as 11×11 interviewing eleven women comic professionals. He has had a history of Marvelman published entitled Poisoned Chalice as well as a book of interviews with Alan Moore entitled Mud and Starlight.”
